What is your ministry experience?
Adam: After giving my life to Christ at the age of 14, I joined Grace Baptist Church (Pastor Denny Neal) in New Castle, IN. I worked in the bus ministry, was involved in the youth group (in the activities and occasionally teaching when given the opportunity), sang in the church choir, and preached on several occasions. For two summers I taught back yard Bible classes in central Indiana. After moving away to attend college, I joined a small church in a rural community of Missouri where I was involved in the outreach ministry, the pastor’s in training ministry, the church choir, and preaching at the downtown rescue mission. After Brandie and I were married we moved our church membership to South Side Baptist Church (our sending church) where we served a one-year missions internship under Dr. Bud Everett. This was a very busy and fruitful time for us as we restarted the puppet ministry and worked as counselors in the youth group. One month after college graduation, we jumped into the pre-field ministry of deputation on a full time basis (presenting our future plans to many churches looking to gain financial and prayer support). After 10 months of traveling, an opportunity opened for us to do furlough relief work for a missionary in Greece for six months. During our time in Athens, I preached during the worship service every Sunday, handed out literature every week, made personal home visits with the people of the church, and started language studies. Upon the completion of our internship, we came back to the U.S. to finish raising our financial support. The deputation process involved visiting 300 churches (eventually establishing a financial partnership with 75 of them) in 33 different States…driving a total of 125,000 miles! After selling most of our belongings and saying “goodbye” to our loved ones, we moved to Greece in the summer of 2004. In the Spring of 2005, we started a Bible study in our home and in 2008, Piraeus Baptist Church with members from 10 different countries, was officially born. The church still meets for weekly worship and continues to seek to give out the good news to every available person.
Brandie: I was raised in the home of a pastor. My dad (Dr. Jerry Mullendore) started Eastside Independent Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN when I was six years old. For as long as I can remember, I was active in our music ministry, nursing home ministry, youth ministry, bus ministry, and visitation ministry. Being raised in the home of a pastor gave me insight that is very beneficial for the success of our ministry today. I always helped my mother when we hosted missionaries and evangelists. After graduating from high school, I went to Heritage Baptist University in Greenwood, Indiana to study elementary education. While there, I joined a church and was very active in the music and children ministries. After two years, I transferred to BBC to pursue the same degree. I was very busy in the little rural church that I joined. I sang in the choir, sang special numbers during the worship services, and taught junior church. After Adam and I married, we moved our membership to South Side Baptist Church. At SSBC, as a young married couple, we served God together in the puppet ministry and in the youth group. Since that time, we have served together, side-by-side, knowing that ministry is best accomplished when the husband and wife form a team that follows God’s pattern.
